How We Review Providers

Senior Support Finder is a curated directory. Businesses and providers are reviewed before publication to help families find relevant, legitimate, and appropriately qualified local support.

Publication is a useful starting point, not a guarantee of service quality, safety, suitability or an endorsement.

Why we review providers

Directory inclusion is intentional

Submissions do not publish automatically. We review available public and submitted information for directory fit, consistency and applicable qualifications before making a publication decision.

Potentially appropriate services include home care, senior housing, respite care, senior transportation, aging-in-place remodeling, caregiver support, elder law and senior-specific benefits. A generic realtor, contractor, insurance salesperson or unrelated local business does not qualify without a meaningful senior-focused service.

What we look at

A practical, category-aware review

The evidence needed depends on the service. Small residential care homes and other senior-focused providers may qualify without the same online footprint as a large organization.

Senior relevance

A business or service must have a meaningful connection to aging, caregiving, accessibility, senior independence, housing, health or another clearly senior-specific need. A business does not qualify simply because seniors can be customers.

Category and service fit

Businesses must be placed in categories supported by their actual services. We may adjust submitted categories or remove unsupported claims so families only see services we can reasonably support with available information.

Business legitimacy

We may review the business name, website, phone, address or service area, public business records, whether information is consistent, and whether the business appears active. A website is not required when other reliable evidence establishes legitimacy.

Licensing and credentials

Requirements vary by category. When a service requires a license or credential, we may confirm current status through the appropriate authority or request documentation. This can include home care, residential care, contractor, professional or real estate licensing.

Public reputation

We review available public reputation signals, which may include rating quality, review volume, recency, consistency, and unresolved trust concerns. Reviews are not the only factor, but newer businesses may not yet have enough established public reputation to qualify. Licensing and legitimacy alone do not always replace an established public reputation history.

Online presence

A functioning website, accurate contact details, consistent business information, a current business profile and clear service information can support review. A weak or missing website does not automatically disqualify an otherwise legitimate senior-focused provider.

Honest service area

We distinguish between located in a city, serving a city, nearby, regional, countywide and virtual. We try to describe geography honestly so families can distinguish businesses physically located nearby from organizations that serve the area from elsewhere.

Material concerns

Publication may be delayed or declined when required licenses appear inactive or missing, business identity is inconsistent, service claims are misleading, important information cannot be verified, category fit is inappropriate, or serious public trust concerns remain unresolved.

Review outcomes

What happens after review

Approved

The listing meets current directory requirements and may be published.

Needs More Information

We need clarification or documentation, such as license, credential, service-area, business identity or category information.

Clear, separate statuses

What the listing labels mean

Publication, ownership, additional verification and paid promotion are separate decisions.

Listed

Published after review

The provider has met current directory publication requirements. Listed does not mean endorsed.

Claimed

Managed by a representative

An authorized representative has claimed control of the listing. Claimed does not mean Verified.

Verified — coming soon

Additional verification

Senior Support Finder will complete an additional process for key business information and applicable credentials. Verification does not guarantee service quality or constitute an endorsement.

Featured advertising — coming soon

Clearly labeled paid placement

Featured or Sponsored status will identify paid advertising. It will not determine eligibility, mean endorsed or verified, or improve organic directory or Senior Support Guide placement.

Standards before payment

Payment does not determine whether a business qualifies for Senior Support Finder.

Businesses cannot pay to bypass directory standards.

Paid promotional placement is separate from organic directory results.

How organic directory results work

Organic results use relevance such as service or category match, user intent, geography and documented service information.

Payment, membership plan, claimed status, Featured status, popularity and click history do not improve organic ranking. We do not publish proprietary scoring weights.

Senior Support Guide independence

Our upcoming Senior Support Guide uses need, service relevance, eligibility and geography to identify appropriate local options.

Paid status does not improve a provider's organic Guide placement.

What families should still verify

Information, availability and service details can change. Ask questions, confirm current licenses or credentials when appropriate, and independently decide whether a provider fits your situation.
